High Speed Rail News
■ The City submitted its comments in response to the Draft Envirc
Impact Report for the high speed rail segment from Fresno to Bc
this week. The 105-page document outlines the City's concerns
DEIR's contents, including impacts to the City related to: trans�
safety, socioeconomics, noise, biology, land use, parks impac
impacts, cultural impacts, regional growth and other general c

Miscellaneous News
• The first AYSO tournament at the Bakersfield Sports Village will be
November 6th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The 201 1 Section Ten VIP Fe

players. Mayor Hall and Councilmember Sullivan are scheduled

Motorists are advised that the northbound outside lane on Allen Road, between
Highway and Brimhall Road, will be under a 24-hour closure from Monday, October '
Friday, October 21, 2011. This closure will be a few hundred yards north of the pre
closure site, which ended this week.
The lane closure is needed to ensure the safety of motorists and crews who are work
ins to an existing sewer line that parallels the roadway. The closure may exten
following week if necessary.
Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through this area, and to
construction equipment and personnel that may be entering or leaving the job site. Tf
Roads Improvement Program apologizes for any inconvenience this work causes th�

Kern County Fair. The Wheel Barrow was judged on September 22nd at 6:

Total attendance for the Silver Creek Community Center was 1,670. The
Community Center was rented a total of eleven (1 1) times for the month c
with a total revenue of $ 2,220.50
o The theme for the month was science and our environment. Eac

• Mesa Marin Softball Complex - The memorial plaque and a bulletin

• TPRW - Litter cleanup at the TPRW on the large lake took place on Monday,
• Linear Park - On September 1 bt", a solid waste compost study took place a

• Yokuts Park - The soccer field was opened for reservations on September 1;
