Department Budget Presentation Meeting - 12:00 Noon

ACTION TAKEN
DEPARTMENT BUDGET PRESENTATIONS
a. General Government
Alan Christensen, Assistant City Manager, gave a
budget presentation for Executive Departments,
including Mayor/Council, City Clerk, Human
Resources and Management Information
Systems.

Development Services Department
Jack Hardisty, Development Services Director,
gave an overview of the Development Services
budget, and introduced Stan Grady, Planning
Director, who gave Planning Department budget
presentation; and Dennis Fidler, Building Director,
who gave the Building Department budget.
Carson requested staff provide Council with a
list of fees they will be lowering.
Hanson requested staff provide clarification
regarding the employee increases.
Maggard requested staff review the possibility
of having a position for long term, strategic
planning to target blight areas.
Couch requested staff review insurance cost
and workers' compensation increases as it
relates to employees and what the percentage
is in the over all budget.

c. Development Services Department

Carson requested staff explore the possibility
of a staff person to assist Council and the
possibility of increasing Council's salary.
d. Fire Department
Ron Fraze, Fire Chief, gave the Fire Department
budget presentation and answered questions.
Couch requested a memorandum outlining
clear and correct facts pertaining to the
possible use of traffic pre-emption devices by
GET.
Mayor Hall recessed the meeting at l:lO p.m. and
reconvened at ~:25 p.m.
Police Department
Eric Matlock, Chief of Police, gave an overview of
the Police Department budget. Captain Bryan
Lynn spoke regarding Operations Division;
Captain Neal Mahan spoke regarding
investigations Unit; Captain Allen Brown spoke
regarding Support Services Division; Assistant
Chief Bill Rector spoke regarding Technology
Information. Chief Matlock concluded the
presentation and answered questions.
Salvaggio requested staff revise the summary
budget list to correct the new detective
position to reflect for Identity Theft.
Salvaggio requested a memorandum
describing the purposes of the satellite offices
and hours of operation.
Sullivan requested staff provide Council with
a report outlining the role~preparation of
Councilmembers in a disaster and home
security review.
