Page 2 General Information May 27, 2016 Also, the dog park includes a double fence so owners can unleash their dog in the fenced area, and re-leash before leaving in a secure area. The off- leash area is a great place for dogs to socialize with other dogs, and for dog owners, too. Park hours are from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Today kicks off the first of seven weekend sessions of the Jehovah’s Witness Watchtower Convention at Rabobank Arena. This is the largest group that meets in Bakersfield, and local hotels and restaurants will be busy. This year the group increased the number of its Bakersfield conventions from six to seven. The dates of the remaining events are June 24-26, July 1-3, July 22-24, July 29-31, August 5-7, and August 12-14. Traffic and other Road Advisories  Traffic Shift Planned for State Route 178 Traffic Intermittent flagging will be needed next week on State Route 178, between Canteria Drive and Valley Street, to move material off the construction site and to shift traffic from the existing roadway onto the new pavement along the north side of the highway. Flagging personnel will need to stop traffic intermittently on Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2nd, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to allow trucks hauling dirt to enter and leave the roadway. Motorists will not be stopped for longer than 10 minutes, and are advised to take alternate routes or allow extra time to reach their destination. On Wednesday, June 1st, the contractor plans to shift traffic onto the new pavement recently completed on the north side of highway. This will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and will affect both directions of travel. Flagging personnel will also be stopping traffic intermittently for this operation, and motorists should not be stopped for longer than 10 minutes at a time.  Nighttime Freeway Lane Closures on State Route 58 Motorists traveling during nighttime hours on State Route 58, between Hughes Lane and Cottonwood Road, should anticipate potential closures of the two outside lanes in various locations during nighttime hours from Tuesday, May 31st through Thursday, June 2nd. These closures are needed for continued wall construction work alongside the freeway. Closures may be in effect for both directions of travel between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. There will be no lane closures on Sunday and Monday nights due to the holiday.
