Discussion:
The purpose of this report is to present to the City of Bakersfield the maintenance and inspection reports of an underground stormwater retention and infiltration unit,
in accordance with a five year agreement with the City of Bakersfield. All inspections and results conducted to date, fall within the manufacturers’ specification guidelines. This project
consists of a Vortechs Hydrodynamic Separator (model 4000) coupled to StormTech’s subsurface stormwater chamber system that has a 39,631 cubic foot capacity. This system has the ability
to effectively remove finer sediment, oil, and floating and sinking debris that can clog or render a traditional retention basin ineffective. The hydrodynamic separator and stormwater
chambers were built and installed according to approved construction plans; and by the manufacturer’s recommended installation procedures. Construction of this unit was complete in November
of 2007 with the first annual inspection taking place in August of 2008. Since the installation of the underground stormwater drainage system, the need for maintenance has been negligible.
The hydrodynamic separator was vacuumed in February of 2009. At the time of maintenance, the contracted service provider (Jack Davenport Sweeping Services) noted that no solids or sediment
were detected, having removed only liquid from the
hydrodynamic separator. The annual inspections were conducted 6 August 2008, 5 August 2009, and 4 August 2010. This report contains all manufacturers’ product specifications, maintenance
guidelines, construction plans, and the annual inspection results.
