Attached is a map of the funded bicycle lanes and routes. o Bicycle Parking Racks – $15,000 This grant includes purchasing and installing bicycle parking racks at various locations throughout Bakersfield. The bicycle parking racks may include the current decorative (bicycle-shaped) racks found in the downtown area. Additional styles may be considered as well. o Bicycle Education and Outreach – $10,000 The grant includes partnering with Bike Bakersfield to conduct several community outreach and educational events to increase bicycle and pedestrian safety awareness and promote the benefits of bicycling for health and transportation. The events include safety lectures, interactive bicycle skills courses, bicycle repair stations, and helmet fitting lessons. Events can be tailored for youth and/or adults and may be held at parks, community centers, or schools.
