While the amount of water in the Carrier Canal adjacent to the Kern River .20 miles north may have an effect on the perched water zone at your former storage tank location, our office would like to confirm that the high water table after the record rain fall is or is not affecting the plume. There is a discrepancy in the report whereas table 2 indicates no levels greater than 50ug/L and the text states that the amounts in monitoring wells 1 and 2 are slightly over the screening levels. The laboratory, Castle Analytical, that processed the water samples indicates a total petroleum hydrocarbon for diesel. (TPH-d) recorded in monitoring well 1 at 290 ug/L and in monitoring well 2 of 280ug/L. Based on the sample readings and the unusually high water level, this office would request at least two more quarterly monitoring reports that will confirm lower than screening levels or non-detect for TPH-d. As was noted in the previous letter dated October 13, 2010, all reports must be up-loaded into "GeoTracker", the case number is T10000002582. If you have any additional questions, please call me at (661) 326-3684.
