HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 036-17RESOLUTION NO. 0 3 6- 1 7 RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT SERVICES AND PARTS REQUIRED FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF TWO GE JENBACHER COGENERATION ENGINES LOCATED AT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT NO. 3 CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WTIH WESTERN ENERGY SYSTEMS TO PROVIDE SERVICES AND PARTS, NOT TO EXCEED $200,000. A"` WHEREAS, the CITY's Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 3 has two GE Jenbacher Cogeneration Engines; and WHEREAS, the engines have been in place since 2008 and are currently in need of extensive maintenance and repair; and WHEREAS, Western Energy Systems is the sole source supplier of GE Jenbacher certified parts and service in the state of California; and WHEREAS, the Public Works Director recommends the Council find that the procurement of parts and services for the GE Jenbacher engines can only be reasonably obtained from Western Energy Systems, because Western Energy Systems is the sole source supplier of GE Jenbacher certified parts and service in California, and recommends the Council dispense with the bidding, in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The services and parts can only be reasonably obtained from Wester Energy Systems, because Western Energy Systems is the sole supplier of GE Jenbacher parts and services for the state of California. 6pKF 3.
