1. ALL GRADING SHALL CONFORM WITH APPENDIX J - CALIFORNIA BUILDING
CODE AND STANDARDS PERTAINING THEREOF AND PRELIMINARY SOILS
REPORT BY SOILS ENGINEERING, INC. DATED FEBRUARY 3, 2014..
2. THE DESIGN ENGINEER SHALL EXERCISE SUFFICIENT SUPERVISOR CONTROL
DURING GRADING AND CONSTRUCTION TD INSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE
PLANS, SOILS REPORT, SPECIFICATIONS, AND CODE WITHIN THEIR PURVIEW.
3 CIVIL ENGINEER, GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER, AND BUILDING OFFICIAL
WILL BE NOTIFIED FORTY EIGHT (48) HOURS PRIOR TO PLACING ANY FILL
MA TERIAL.
4. CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE
RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB SITE CONDI TIONS DURING THE COURSE OF
CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT. INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL
PERSONS AND PROPERTY- THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY
CON77NUOUSLY AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS; AND
THAT THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD 774E
OWNER, ARCHITECT, AND THE ENGINEER HARMLESS FROM ANY
LIABILITY, REAL OR ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE
PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON174IS PROJECT, EXCEPTING FOR LIABILITY
ARISING FROM THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER, ARCHITECT, OR
THE ENGINEER.
5. THE GRADING CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT ALL COMPANIES WITH
UNDERGROUND FACILITIES PRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION AND
VERIFY THE LOCATION AND DEPTH OF ALL UNDERGROUND FACILITIES,
INCLUDING TELEPHONE, ELECTRIC, WATER, SEWER, OIL AND GAS
LINES THE ENGINEER ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR BURIED
LINES NOT INDICATED ON 774E PLAN OR FOR INFORMA77ON OBTAINED
FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES (USA 1-800-227-2600)
6. THE GRADING CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR GRADING ALL
AREAS TO t OR - 0.10 FOOT. IF AN AREA SHOULD BE FOUND TO BE
MORE THAN 0.10 FOOT OUT OF LEVEL AFTER COMPAC77NG AND
ACCEPTANCE OF GRADING THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RETURN AND
CORRECT THE GRADING AT NO COST TO THE OWIVER.
7. THE GRADING CONTRACTOR SHALL WATER AS REQUIRED DURING THE
GRADING OPERATIONS TO PREVENT THE OCCURRENCE OF A DUST
NUISANCE AND SHALL PROTECT CURBS AND OTHER OBJECTS WHICH ARE
TO REMAIN.
8. EXCA VA TION - EXCA VA TION SHALL CONSIST OF ALL EXCA VA TION
INVOLVED IN GRADING 774E PROJECT AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS, EXCEPT
ANY EXCA VA TION SEPARA TEL Y DESIGNA TED AND PAID FOR AS A
SEPARA TE ITEM.
9. THE WORK EMBRACED HEREIN SHALL BE 1N ACCORDANCE K17H THE
STANDARD SPECIFICA77ONS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT
OF 7RANSPOR TA TION DATED JULY 1999, INSOFAR AS THE SAME MAY
APPLY 1N ACCORDANCE WITH THE N07ES HEREON. IN CASE OF
CONFLICT K17H THE STANDARD SPECIFICA77ONS AND ANY NOTES
HEREON, THE N07ES HEREON SHALL TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER AND BE

AND RELEASED FROM ALL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE USE OF SAID

14. THE SOIL ENGINEER SHALL REVIEW ALL EXCA VA TIONS PRIOR TO
BACKFILLING AND SHALL BE N077FIED OF ANY 17EM ENCOUNTERED
DURING THE GRADING OPERATIONS THAT MIGHT AFFECT FOUNDATION
STABILITY SO RECOMMENDATIONS CAN BE MADE BY THE SOIL
ENGINEER.
