A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN
PIERCE MANUFACTURING FIRE TRUCK PARTS
CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED
THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES
AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR
TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE AND
PURCHASE PIERCE MANUFACTURING FIRE
TRUCK PARTS THROUGH SOUTH COAST FIRE
EQUIPMENT, NOT TO EXCEED $240,000 OVER
A THREE -YEAR TERM.
WHEREAS, CITY is in need of new and replacement Pierce Manufacturing fire
truck parts; and
WHEREAS, City currently has 18 Pierce Manufacturing fire trucks in service as
part of the City's active Fire Department fleet; and
WHEREAS, the parts necessary to maintain and repair the Pierce
Manufacturing fire trucks can only be obtained through a Pierce Manufacturing
authorized dealership; and
WHEREAS, Pierce Manufacturing fire trucks parts can only be acquired
through the regional distributor, South Coast Fire Equipment, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to purchase Pierce Manufacturing fire truck parts
because of the inability to interchange any other part manufactured by another
company.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. As the sole regional distributor, the equipment can only be reasonably
obtained from one vendor, South Coast Fire Equipment, because of the need to
successfully repair such equipment that are already in operation within the City system.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in accordance
with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
4. The expenditure of funds for said work and equipment shall not exceed
$240,000 over a three -year term. �K
