CONTRACTOR SHALL FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH 'THE APPLICABLE
ORDINANCES,' CODES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THIS TYPE OF
CONSTRUCTION AND SOILS REPORT PREPARED BY KRAZAN &
ASSOC. INC. PROJECT NO. 022-14205, DATED JAN. 7, 2015
6. SAFETY REGULATION: CALIFORNIA ADMIN. CODE, TITLE 8, GENERAL
SAFETY ORDERS (CAL OSHA) IS APPLICABLE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF
THIS PROJECT AND PROVISIONS THEREOF MUST BE FOLLOWED.
7. CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE
RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB, SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF
CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT, INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND
PROPERTY; THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT
BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS; AND THAT THE :CONTRACTOR SHALL
DEFEND, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER HARMLESS
FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, REAL OR ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH
THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON. THIS PROJECT, EXCEPTING FOR LIABILITY
ARISING FROM THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR ENGINEER.
8. DO NOT SCALE DRAWINGS, VERIFY DIMENSIONS, DATA AND
MEASUREMENTS AT THE BUILDING SITE. . WRITTEN DIMENSIONS ON THESE
DRAWINGS SHALL HAVE PRECEDENCE OVER SCALED DIMENSIONS.
CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL DIMENSIONS AND
CONDITIONS ON THE JOB AND THIS OFFICE MUST BE NOTIFIED OF ANY
VARIATIONS FROM THE DIMENSIONS AND CONDITIONS SHOWN BY THESE
DRAWINGS.
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PROVIDE ALL PERMITS REQUIRED BY
C.O.B. BUILDING DEPARTMENT AND/OR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
10. BEARING SOIL SHALL BE COMPACTED TO 90% OF MAXIMUM DENSITY AS
DETERMINED BY A.S.T.M. D 1557 TO A DEPTH OF 12 INCHES BELOW
BOTTOM OF FOOTING.
11, WATERPROOF SURFACE WITH 1/4- THICK ASPHALTIC WATERPROOF
COATING OR APPROVED EQUAL AS PER CITY STD. NO. L-8. COAT
ONLY -PORTION BELOW SOIL SURFACE TO TOP OF FOOTING.
12. COMPACTION TESTS SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
DEVELOPER/SUBDIVIDER/CONTRACTOR. THE NUMBER AND LOCATION OF
REQUIRED TESTS SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE CITY ENGINEER.
13. 24 HOUR NOTICE IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO START OF CONSTRUCTION.

14. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF ANY SIGNAGE; SUBDIVIDER SHALL
SUBMIT TWO COPIES OF SUBDIVISION IDENTIFICATION SIGN PLANS TO THE
BUILDING DIRECTOR FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL PURSUANT TO BMC SEC.
17.60 110(N). ONE COPY OF THE SIGN PLAN SHALL ALSO BE SUBMITTED
TO THE PARKS DIVISION FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. SIGN PLANS SHALL
INCLUDE COPY, DIMENSIONS, COLOR, MATERIALS, LIGHTING, ANCHORAGE,
AND LOCATION OF SIGN(S). APPROVAL OF THESE WALL PLANS BY PUBLIC
WORKS DIRECTOR DOES NOT INCLUDE APPROVAL OF ANY SIGNAGE.
15. EXPANSION JOINTS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED AT 60 FOOT MAXIMUM INTERVALS
IN ALL WALLS. EXPANSION JOINTS SHALL BE FREE OF ALL MORTAR AND
GROUT,FROM THE TOP OF FOOTING TO TOP OF WALL.
16. AN OPEN STREET PERMIT SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT FOR ALL WORK PERFORMED WITHIN EXISTING ACCEPTED
STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY. UNLESS SECURED BY A SUBDIVISION AGREEMENT,
SECURITY, BASED ON AN APPROVED ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE, FOR THE WORK TO BE
PERFORMED WITHIN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY AND INSURANCE REQUIRED SHALL BE
PROVIDED PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF A BUILDING PERMIT.
17. NO PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTION WILL BE GIVEN FOR THE WORK IN THE UNDEDICATED
ROADWAYS IN THIS PROPERTY UNTIL A SUBDIVISION PERMIT HAS BEEN OBTAINED.
18. UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT SHALL BE CONTACTED TWO (2) WORKING DAYS PRIOR
TO CONSTRUCTION. (1-800-612-2444)
19. ANY ITEMS IN PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY THAT ARE DAMAGED OR DO NOT MEET CURRENT
STANDARDS SET BY PUBLIC WORKS WILL REQUIRE REPAIRING AND/OR UPGRADING
AS PER CITY ENGINEER.
20. MAXIMUM SLOPE RATIO FROM BACK OF SIDEWALK TO FACE OF WALL OR STRUCTURE
SHALL- BE 4:1 EXCEPT FOR TWO FEET BEHIND THE SIDEWALK WHEN THE MAXIMUM
SLOPE SHALL BE 27. ALTERNATIVELY, THE CITY ENGINEER MAY APPROVE CURBING
BEHIND THE SIDEWALK OR OTHER METHOD TO PREVENT EROSION ONTO THE SIDEWALK.
