Curbside trash service will be delayed by one day. Notable Items  The 2018 Polar Bear Plunge will take place on Monday, January 1st at 11 a.m. at McMurtrey Aquatic Center. The annual event gives participants a chance to ring in the New Year by sliding into the cold waters of the pool. The event is open to the public ages 7 and up. Registration is $5 and commemorative t- shirts will be available for $20. Please note registration will be available on the day of the event from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  The groundbreaking ceremony for the Truxtun Avenue Operational Improvements Project will take place next Friday, January 5th at 1:30 p.m. at Jastro Park. The project will add a lane in each direction from just west of the State Route 99 overcrossing through the Oak Street intersection east of Elm Street. The project is intended to alleviate traffic congestion and improve travel through the area. General Information December 29, 2017 Page 2 Traffic Advisories  Nighttime Striping Operations Continue on State Routes 58 & 99 The contractor for the Beltway Operational Improvements Project is refreshing the lane striping on State Routes 58 and 99 within the project area during nighttime hours. This work is expected to continue next week, Tuesday, January 2 through Thursday, January 4. These operations will be performed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and will require alternating lane and ramp closures in the area where work is underway. The contractor expects to finish the work on eastbound State Route 58 and refresh the lane striping on State Route 99, between Ming Avenue and Wilson Road, next week. At least one freeway lane will remain open to motorists in all areas while work is underway. Please note: construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to winter weather conditions, including rain, fog and temperatures that are too low to perform the work.
