HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 042-18RESOLUTION NO. 0 4 2- 1 8 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL TO PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT OF BACKFILL COSTS RELATED TO CHP DRUG RECOGNITION EVALUATOR (DRE)TRAINING, UP TO $50,000.00. WHEREAS, Senate Bill 94 authorizes the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to reimburse California law enforcement agencies participating in CHP Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) training and CHP DRE field certification for costs incurred; and WHEREAS, the CHP proposes an agreement to reimburse the Bakersfield Police Department up to $50,000.00 for costs incurred for back filling shifts, while personnel are attending CHP DRE training and field certification; and WHEREAS, the CHP cannot authorize the reimbursement of training costs incurred by the BPD until it obtains a resolution of support from the Bakersfield City Council authorizing the Police Department to execute the agreement, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Bakersfield authorizes City Manager, or his/her designee, to execute a grant agreement with the California Highway Patrol to provide reimbursement of backfill costs related to CHP DRE training, up to $50,000.00. NOW, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chief of Police is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Bakersfield, all necessary, contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments thereto for the purpose of securing grant funds, implementing and carrying out the purposes specified in the grant , and drawing down grant funds as necessary. ----000---- -- Page ---000---- --Page 1 of 2 Pages -- 0 b O1`1101NAI.
