The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.

2. PRESENTATION
A. Presentation of certificates of appreciation to the Bakersfield Youth Commissioners for serving during the Commission’s Inaugural year.
Councilmember Rivera presented the Youth Commission with a certificate
and a City of Bakersfield seal for there one-year service. He also made a couple of comments about the benefits in being in the Youth Commission.
3.PUBLIC STATEMENTS
Susan Stone from Sister City gave a presentation regarding the Bakersfield Sister City
Youth Ambassador Trip to Wakayama, Japan. The Youth Commission was given a
flyer and application form to fill out if they are interested in joining this incredible
experience.
Commissioner Honaker made a comment to the Commission that she has been
with the Sister City program for two years now and that it really is a great learning
opportunity. She also mentioned if you cannot afford to go out to Japan that there
are different programs that you can do here in Bakersfield.
4.ADOPT NOVEMBER 6, 2017 AGENDA SUMMARY REPORT
The Commission adopted the November 6, 2017 report. Vice Chair Paterno
motioned, Commission Flores second. Motion was unanimously approved.
5.NEW BUSINESS
A. Youth Commission Vice Chair Appointment
Assistant City Manager, Chris reminded the Commission that they had to vote for the Vice Chair. Commissioner Paterno was appointed as Vice Chair.
Motion was unanimously approved.
B. Presentation – Dianne Hoover, Recreation and Parks Director, Vandalism in City Parks – Potential Youth Commission Project
Recreation and Parks Director, Dianne Hoover gave a presentation regarding
Park Vandalism. Ms. Hoover asked the Commission for their help in spreading the word and teaching the youth about Vandalism. Assistant City Manager,
Chris informed the Commission if they would like to plan to meet with Park
employees maybe around March or April or even a special meeting.
Commissioner Turner asked Ms. Hoover if she has any ideas for school
advertisement.

There were no Commission Comments at that time.
7.ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:04 p.m.

Youth Commission Project – Scripting and filming of a public service announcement on vandalism in City parks Commissioners present scripted and filmed short segments of the PSA including reading facts and directing viewers to use the mobile app to request clean-ups. Footage is to be compiled by staff and presented at next meeting for review. 4. COMMISSION COMMENTS No comments 5. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
