RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE TRANSFER OF
ARMORED "PEACEKEEPER" PERSONNEL CARRIER
TO THE SAN BENITO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE,
A GOVERNMENT AGENCY
FOR ZERO DOLLARS ($0)
RECITALS
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Police Department acquired an armored
"Peacekeeper" personnel carrier on August 28, 1997 from the Department of
Defense's Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) 1033 Program, which allows
surplus military assets to be converted to law enforcement use at zero cost to
the receiving agency; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Police Department no longer needs such unit;
and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Department of Defense (LESO) 1033
Program such unit can only be decommissioned by transfer to another
government agency or return to the Department of Defense; and
WHEREAS, The City of San Benito County Sheriff's Office has requested the
"Peacekeeper" personnel carrier be transferred from the Bakersfield Police
Department to them.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated
herein by reference.
2. The City Council authorizes the transfer of the "Peacekeeper"
personnel carrier to the San Benito County Sheriff's Office at zero
cost ($0) in accordance with the terms as set forth by the
Department of Defense's (LESO) 1033 Program and Bakersfield
Municipal code section 3.20.120(F).
