A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT WARRANTY SERVICES
FOR THE 18TH III EYE PARKING FACILITY CANNOT BE
REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING
PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR
TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFOR, FOR A PERIOD OF
FOUR YEARS NOT TO EXCEED $79,068.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield is the owner/operator of a seven story
parking garage at the Northwest corner of 181^ & Eye Streets in downtown
Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, in August 2015, the City contracted with Sentry Control Systems,
LLC (Sentry) to install an automated parking garage access system in the facility;
and
WHEREAS, in May 2018, the City became fully integrated on all Sentry
operated hardware and software; and
WHEREAS, the City is under contract with Sentry for warranty services through
August 31, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the City regularly utilizes, and will need to continue to utilize, the
onsite service care segment of the warranty that allows Sentry to respond to
unscheduled calls for remedial maintenance and support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The Council hereby finds that the purchase of warranty services for the
181^ & Eye parking structure can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor
Sentry Control Systems, LLC) for the reasons set forth above.
3. The Finance Director Is authorized to dispense with bidding therefore in
accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code and to
negotiate the purchase of some on a continuing basis, not to exceed budgeted
amounts.
HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held
