General Information September 21, 2018 Page 2  The Youth Cross Country meet will take place at Yokuts Park on Saturday, September 29th. Approximately 200 youth compete in running events with competitors attending from all over Kern County and beyond. Traffic Advisory  Nighttime Closures Continue on Westbound Truxtun Avenue The contractor for the Kern River Bridge Improvements project continues to work on the new bridge abutment adjacent to westbound Truxtun Avenue. This work requires the full closure of westbound Truxtun Avenue in the area adjacent to the Westside Parkway on- and off-ramps. The inside lane of eastbound Truxtun Avenue will also need to be closed, but two eastbound traffic lanes will remain open. These closures are expected to be in place Monday through Thursday nights, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., for the next two weeks. The closures are needed to allow for the delivery and placement of reinforcing steel and to form the bridge abutment wall. The Westside Parkway on- and off-ramps are expected to remain open while work is underway and westbound Westside Parkway motorists can stay on Truxtun Avenue to the on-ramp. Streets between Oak Street and Empire Drive will also be accessible to westbound traffic. Westbound Truxtun Avenue motorists can detour around the closure by traveling south on Oak Street to California Avenue; west to Mohawk Street; then north to Truxtun Avenue. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic. Motorists can also detour around the work by using Rosedale Highway.
