OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER
October 19, 2018
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Alan Tandy, City Manager
SUBJECT: General Information
Notable Items
Next Thursday, the 25th of October, we will hold a Groundbreaking ceremony for the
24th Street project. Please join us at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of 24th and Oak for a special recognition of the construction start of this critical project. Many citizens and
neighbors worked to petition for cul de sacs, encourage special walls and
landscaping and more. It is now time to make 24th flow effectively, be safer and be
beautified!
The High Speed Rail Authority Board met in Bakersfield this past Tuesday morning
and took the official vote to adopt the Supplemental EIR. This makes the locally
preferred alignment and the station location on F St. their official and final decision.
We are just a few weeks short of four years since the City filed suit to initiate this
change.
This week administration from the Bakersfield Police Department attended a three
day workshop called Auditing Police. This workshop further promotes the Chief’s
vision of striving for excellence through consistent improvement and is designed for
organizational improvement.
