PIPE AND FITTINGS FOR PIPES BETWEEN 18" AND 48" IN DIAMETER SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASTM SPECIFICATION F679 FOR PS 46. PIPE AND FITTINGS SHALL BE HOMOGENEOUS THROUGHOUT AND FREE FROM CRACKS, HOLES, FOREIGN INCLUSIONS OR OTHER INJURIOUS DEFECTS. FITTINGS SHALL BE INJECTION MOLDED AND SHALL BE INSTALLED IN LINE ON NEW PIPELINES; CUT -IN FITTINGS ARE NOT PERMITTED. 3.2. JOINTS: USE ONLY ELASTOMERIC GASKET JOINTS. THE ASSEMBLY OF JOINTS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. WHERE PVC PIPE CONNECTS TO VCP, USE COUPLINGS APPROVED BY THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. 11. IN THE EVENT CONSTRUCTION STAKING BASED ON CONSULTANT'S PLANS, DRAWINGS OR OTHER DOCUMENTS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY OTHER THAN THE CONSULTANT, CLIENT AGREES TO HOLD CONSULTANT HARMLESS AND RELEASE CONSULTANT FROM ALL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE USE OF SAID PLANS, DRAWINGS OR OTHER DOCUMENTS. 12. ALL EXISTING PAVING AND SURFACING REMOVED, DAMAGED OR UNDERCUT SHALL BE REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF BAKERSFIELD DRAWING ST -11. 13. WYE-FTTINGS SHALL BE INJECTION MOLDED IN-LINE AND SHALL BE USED FOR ALL LATERAL CONNECTIONS AND SHALL BE ROTATED A MINIMUM OF 23' AND A MAXIMUM OF 45' ABOVE THE HORIZONTAL PLANE RUNNING THROUGH THE CENTERLINE OF THE MAIN. WYE FITTINGS ONLY SHALL BE USED FOR VCP. ALL SEWER STUBS SHALL BE CLOSED WITH A STANDARD PLASTIC PLUG (SOLVENT WELDED). 6. THE MANHOLES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD STANDARD DRAWINGS SW -2, SW -3, AND SW -4 AND SECTION 70-4 OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, APPROVED CURRENT EDITION. 7. ALL SEWER LATERALS TO BE 4" IN DIAMETER (EXCEPT AS NOTED ON PLANS) AND EXTEND 4 FEET BEYOND THE PROPERTY LINE. 8. SURFACE MARKERS FOR SEWER LATERALS SHALL BE INSTALLED PER CITY OF BAKERSFIELD DRAWING SW -1. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON PLANS. 9. CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY POSITIVE SLOPE FROM MANHOLE PRIOR TO CONNECTING TO EXISTING STUB. IF THE POSITIVE SLOPE DOES NOT EXIST, REPLACE STUB TO MANHOLE. 10. FOR CURVED PIPE: IDENTIFICATION TAPE DESIGNED FOR USE ON SEWER SHALL BE PLACED ON TOP OF SEWER MAIN ALONG ITS ENTIRE LENGTH. IDENTIFICATION TAPE SHALL ALSO BE PLACED ON SEWER LATERALS EXTENDING 1 FOOT ABOVE SEWER MAIN TO RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE. GENERAL NOTES 1. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY PERMITS BEFORE START OF CONSTRUCTION. A PERMIT SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM CITY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT FOR WORK TO BE DONE IN THE CITY RIGHT-OF-WAY. 2. ANY TRENCHING TO BE CONDUCTED WITHIN THIS PROJECT SHALL BE BACKFILLED AND COMPACTED PER CITY STANDARD DETAIL ST -12. 3, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVED OR RELOCATED ALL OBSTRUCTIONS AS DIRECTED BY THE CITY ENGINEER. 4. CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT, INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY: THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS: THAT THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, REAL OR ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON THIS PROJECT, EXCEPTING FOR LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR THE ENGINEER. 15, SEE WATER AND STREET IMPROVEMENT PLANS FOR OTHER IMPROVEMENTS THAT ARE PART OF THIS PROJECT. 16. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEWATERING ALL TRENCHES. IF TRENCHES OR PIPING BECOME DAMAGED DUE TO WATER INFILTRATION, IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR THE TRENCH AND PIPING TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER AT THE CONTRACTORS EXPENSE. 17, FLOODING OR WATERJETTING SHALL NOT BE USED FOR BACKFILL COMPACTION. 18. DRAWINGS SHOWN ON THIS SHEET ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A COPY OF "CITY OF BAKERSFIELD SUBDIVISION STANDARDS" AND DRAWINGS FOR HIS USE. THESE STANDARD DRAWINGS SHALL BE CONSIDERED A PART OF THESE PLANS. 19. NORMAL CONSTRUCTION STAKING WILL SUPPLIED ONE TIME BY THE DEVELOPER. ALL RESTAKING WILL BE BACKCHARGED TO THE CONTRACTOR 20. ANY DISCREPANCIES SHALL BE REPORTED TO THE ENGINEER SO THAT ANY NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS CAN BE MADE TO THE PLANS. 21. PRIOR TO FINAL ACCEPTANCE, ALL SEWER LINES SHALL BE INSPECTED WITH VIDEO EQUIPMENT DESIGNED FOR THIS PURPOSE. SEWER MAIN LINES SHALL BE INSPECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 2.3.3 OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD SUBDIVISION AND ENGINEERING DESIGN MANUAL. 22. AN OPEN STREET PERMIT SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT FOR ANY WORK PERFORMED WITHIN EXISTING ACCEPTED STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY. UNLESS SECURED BY A SUBDIVISION AGREEMENT, SECURITY BASED ON AN APPROVED ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE FOR THE WORK PERFORMED WITHIN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY AND INSURANCE AS REQUIRED SHALL BE PROVIDED PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF A BUILDING PERMIT. 23. ANY ITEMS IN PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY THAT ARE DAMAGED OR DO NOT MEET CURRENT STANDARDS SET BY PUBLIC WORKS WILL REQUIRE REPAIRING AND/OR UPGRADING AS PER THE CITY ENGINEER. CONNECTION SEAL TO PVC LINED SEWER LINE OR MANHOLE 1. THE CORED HOLE SHALL BE APPROXIMATELY 3 INCHES GREATER THAN THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF THE CONNECTING LINE. THE CORED HOLE SHALL BE DESIGNED TO CUT A HOLE WITH MINIMUM DAMAGE TO THE REINFORCED STEEL, PIPE OR PLASTIC LINER. 2. PRIOR TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE PVC BOOT ON THE CONNECTION, THE PLASTIC LINER AROUND THE PIPE AT THE CORED HOLE SHALL BE CLEANED PER THE PLASTIC LINER MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. THE END OF THE CONNECTING LINE SHALL BE SEALED TO THE PVC BOOT WITH SIKA 449/203 PRIMER AND SIKA FLEX 1A SEALANT OR AN APPROVED EQUAL. 3. THE PVC BOOT SHALL BE ORDERED SO IT WILL FIT SNUGLY TO THE OUTSIDE WALL OF THE CONNECTION. 4.
