FROM: Viridiana Gallardo-King, Associate City Attorney
DAT E: 8/2/2019
WARD:
SUBJECT: Amending the Bylaws of the Bakersfield Youth Commission.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval
BACKGROUND:
The Bylaws of the Bakersfield Youth Commission currently state that the Commission elects a
Chair and Vice -Chair at the beginning of the year. However, a more practical date to hold
elections would be at the August meeting, which would coincide with the beginning of the school
year and when commissioners decide whether they will continue participating or move away for
college. City staff recommends that the Bakersfield Youth Commission approve the amendment
to the Bylaws to reflect the changes above.
