WARD:
SUBJECT: Introduction of the new City of Bakersfield Brand
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
BACKGROUND:
On September 2, 2019, the City of Bakersfield unveiled a new brand identity, "The Sound of
Something Better" with an accompanying logo as the initial step to establish a positive brand
to promote Bakersfield as a great place to live, work and visit.
Youth within the City of Bakersfield have expressed concern about social issues they would
like to improve. The Bakersfield Youth Commission conducted peer outreach to determine
what priorities they may be able to focus on over the next year and will develop a project
addressing them by the summer of 2020. City of Bakersfield Public Information Officer Joe
Conroy will provide a short introduction to the new brand and explain how it is being
integrated citywide.
By understanding the new branding effort, the Youth Commission will have better insight on
integrating the new vision in the City of Bakersfield with youth outreach and education
efforts.
