MINUTES
MEETING OF JANUARY 13, 2020

Special Meeting- 8:30 a.m.
SPECIAL MEETING -8:30 AM
1. ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Goh, Vice -Mayor Parlier, Councilmembers Rivera,
Gonzales, Weir, Smith, Freeman, Sullivan
Absent: None
2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS
None.
3. CLOSED SESSION
a. Closed session pursuant to Government Code section 54957.7(b)
(1)/54957.6 - Conference to conduct interviews with potential City
Manager applicants and to consider/discuss the employment/
appointment of a new City Manager with the retained recruiter
and to discuss the selection/appointment of an interim City
Manager.
Motion by Vice -Mayor Parlier to adjourn to Closed Session at 8:39
a.m. Motion passed.
The Closed Session meeting was adjourned at 3:39 p.m.
Meeting reconvened at 3:40 p.m.
4. CLOSED SESSION ACTION
a. Closed session pursuant to Government Code section 54957.7(b)
(1)/54957.6 - Conference to conduct interviews with potential City
Manager applicants and to consider/discuss the employment/
appointment of a new City Manager with the retained recruiter
and to discuss the selection/appointment of an interim City
Manager.

4. CLOSED SESSION ACTION continued
ITEM 4.a. CONTINUED
Vice -Mayor Parlier announced the Council has concluded
candidate interviews and have directed the recruiter to have
further discussions with a selected candidate; Council has also
appointed, by a 4-3 vote, with Councilmembers Gonzales, Weir,
and Smith voting no, Virginia Gennaro to serve as Interim City
Manager until further notice; Ms. Gennaro has accepted; and
this meeting is continued until tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., at which time
the Council will have further discussions with the recruiter regarding
the selected candidate and further discussion about compensation
for the Interim City Manager.
5. COUNCIL AND MAYOR STATEMENTS
None.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The City Council adjourned at 3:41 p.m. to a Special City Council meeting
to be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
