RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC
WORKS DIRECTOR OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD TO APPLY FOR AN INCENTIVE
FROM THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AIR
POLLUTION CONTROL DISTRICT AND EXECUTE
DOCUMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY IF THE
INCENTIVE IS APPROVED FOR A CITY-WIDE
ELECTRICAL VEHICLE CHARGING STATION
PROJECT
RECITALS
WHEREAS, the California Energy Commission provides grants to schools,
hospitals, local governments, special districts, and public care institutions to finance
electric vehicle (EV) charging stations known as the CALeVIP program; and
WHEREAS, the City has applied fora CALeVIP grant at six City facility parking
lots including the 18th & Eye parking structure; and
WHEREAS, grant funds may not fund 100% of the cost of the EV stations; and
WHEREAS, the City is eligible to apply for an incentive from the San Joaquin
Valley Air Pollution Control District underthe ChargeUp! program to supplement the
grant funding in the event the City is successful in obtaining the grant; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
The above recitals are true and correct.
2. The City Council authorizes the City of Bakersfield to apply for an
incentive from the SJVAPCD to help supplement and pay for citywide
EV charging stations.
3. In compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA),
the City Council finds that the activity funded by the loan is exempt
pursuant to CEQA guidelines Section 15302(c) which exempts
replacement and reconstruction of existing utility systems and/or
facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity.

4. The City Council hereby authorizes the Public Works Director and the
Finance Director to execute on behalf of the City of Bakersfield all
necessary documents to implement and carry out the purpose of this
resolution, and to undertake all actions necessary to undertake and
complete the EV charging station project.
