RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD APPROVING THE UPDATED SOUTH MILL CREEK
MASTER PLAN.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield acknowledges the
importance of the City's downtown as a measure of the City's social health and
economic well-being; and
WHEREAS, the approximately 5.24 -acre property commonly referred to as the P/Q
Site, bordered by South Mill Creek on the east, California Avenue on the south and P
Street on the west, is located within downtown Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, the P/Q Site is a highly desirable property in the downtown area of the
City, whose development is an important component in the continued rejuvenation of
the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that an update to the 2014 South Mill Creek Master
Plan was necessary to demonstrate the potential development of the P/Q Site; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield entered into an agreement with Gensler and
Associates for the preparation of an updated South Mill Creek Master Plan: and
WHEREAS, Gensler and Associates has fulfilled the terms of that contract and
provided an updated South Mill Creek Master Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
The above recitals are true and correct.
2. The City Council has reviewed the updated South Mill Creek Master Plan
and found it to be acceptable.
3. The City Council does hereby approve the 2020 update to the South Mill
Creek Master Plan.
