RE: Sewer Study for Proposed 13 AC Commercial Development on Parcel Map 3509
Dear Mr. Neptune:
We have completed review of the sewer study for Commercial Development on Parcel
Map No. 3509 dated July, 2017. As a result of our review, we approve the sewer study with
the following comment.
1. Please correct "the future commercial is expected to generate 0.234 cfs (105.026
gpm) of peak sewer flow" to match the numbers given in the sewer flow
spreadsheet.
2. Please correct "decrease the flow to 3.28 cfs" to "increase the flow to 3.23 cfs" on
page 3, second paragraph.
3. Please run a quick spell check for any other typos.
4. Note that the calculations for flow rate in the 27 inch sewer main in Panama
included in this study are based on an assumed minimum slope of 0.08%, giving a
flow velocity of approximately 2.3 cfs, unlike the 1.23 cfs measured per the flow
meter as described in the body of the report. Estimating the 80% depth flow rate
based on the measured parameters yields a capacity of 4.44 cfs, considerably less
than the 10.10 cfs calculated in the report. This results in an excess capacity in
Panama Lane of 1.16 cfs rather than 6.82 as described in the report; however the
excess capacity is still sufficient for the proposed project.
5. Please provide a copy of the calculations on a CD. As a back up to the hard copy
submitted, the City is asking all the engineering firms to submit a digital PDF copy.
