PUBLIC STATEMENTS Retrain the Night Representative Tiara King provided an update about their program and distributed a pamphlet to the Committee. Interim Assistant Police Chief Mullins thanked Ms. King for her Organization’s efforts. 3. ADOPTION OF MARCH 5, 2019 AGENDA SUMMARY REPORT The Report was adopted as submitted. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Discussion and Committee Recommendation Regarding Adoption of the 2020 Committee Meeting Schedule - Kitchen The Committee meeting schedule was adopted as submitted. B. Discussion Regarding Street Racing – Terry Interim Police Chief Terry introduced Lieutenant Hilliard, who provided a PowerPoint presentation on street racing deterrence and enforcement. He stated community outreach and prevention efforts have been successful and will be ongoing. Committee member Parlier thanked them for their efforts and praised the collaboration between the City, the California Highway Patrol and the Kern County Raceway. 5. DEFERRED BUSINESS A. Human Trafficking Update – Terry Interim Police Chief Terry provided a summarization of the Human Trafficking memorandum provided in the packet. Committee member Gonzales thanked Interim Police Chief Terry for the information and inquired if there were areas identified for improvement, expanding the service area, and enhance responses. Interim Police Chief Terry responded that additional research of what other jurisdictions do is ongoing. They will also review what partnerships and collaborations are most successful. Interim Assistant Police Chief Mullins added that the addition of personnel funded by the Public Safety & Vital Services Measure (PSVS) will contribute to improve service and enhance response. Lieutenant Fidler and Sergeant McAfee provided additional comments on current efforts related to Human Trafficking. Committee Chair Rivera requested staff reach out to the City of Fresno and inquire about the impacts they have had with the “John Program” and present the information to the Committee at a future meeting. Committee member Parlier agreed. They also requested staff collaborate with Retrain the Night. 6. COMMITTEE COMMENTS There were no committee comments. 7. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 9:33 a.m.
