ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6.08 OF THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO FOWL.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
Chapter 6.08 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read
as follows:
6.08.010 Definitions.
For purposes of this Code, the following words shall have following meanings:
A. "Fowl" means a duck, goose, rooster, turkey, or other poultry, except a
hen as defined herein.
B. "Hen" means a female chicken (subspecies Gallus gallus domesticus),
specifically excluding a male chicken or rooster.
C. "Rooster" means a male chicken,,(subspecies Gallus gallus domesticus),
6.08.020 Keeping prohibited - Exception.
It is unlawful for any person to keep or have under their care, custody or control,
either as owner or otherwise, any fowl, within the city, unless same are kept
securely enclosed in a yard or pen at all times and that the property is within an
agricultural zone or residential suburban zone, as said zones are defined in Title 17
of this code.
6.08.030 Each day as separate offense.
Every breach of this chapter or any of its terms, provisions or requirements, shall
separately or for each day of its continuance be deemed to be, and shall be a
separate breach thereof.
SECTION 2.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the provisions of the
Bakersfield Municipal Code and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and
after the date of its passage.
