A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE SUBMISSION OF AN
APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION DIVISION OF AERONAUTICS FOR
FUNDING OF AN IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AT THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL AIRPORT UNDER AIRPORT
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM PROJECT NO. 3-06-0323-023-
2021 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR
DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has applied for an allocation of funds
through the California Department of Transportation Division of Aeronautics; and
WHEREAS, the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) approved by the
Department of Transportation indicates that funding is tentatively available for an
improvement project at the Bakersfield Municipal Airport pursuant to AIP FAA
Project No. 3-06-0323-023-2021; and
WHEREAS, FAA funds will provide 90% of funding for project costs, and the
Department of Transportation funds will provide 4.5% of the 10% local match
requirement with general aviation funds providing the remaining 5.5% of the local
match; and
WHEREAS, this allocation of funds is the first step leading to the issuance of a
grant offer; and
WHEREAS, grant funds will be used for the Northwest Apron Pavement Area
Rehabilitation, Sections A and C construction project; and
WHEREAS, the initial estimate for this project totals $1,136,000, but this amount
may need to be revised as work commences on the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The City Manager, or his designee is authorized to accept grant funds
and execute the grant agreement or any other necessary documents with the
Department of Transportation for AIP Project No. 3-06-0323-023-2021.
