The Fire Department Civil Service Meeting commenced on Monday. June 14, 2021
at 3:00 p.m., at Fire Station #1.
Commissioners Present: Thomas Edmonds, Chairman
Mike George, Vice Chair
Ron Eaves, Commissioner
Administrative Staff Present: Anthony Galagazo, Fire Chief
John Franco, Deputy Fire Chief
William Ballard, Deputy Fire Chief
Shane Gardner, Director of Fire Prev/Env Services
Coleen Blair, Fire Department Secretary
Shayla Woods-Collins, Human Resources Supervisor
Tracy Sunkes, Human Resources Analyst
Isabel Farmer, Human Resources Analyst
Sandra Duncan, Human Resources Analyst
Joshua H. Rudnick, Deputy City Attorney
1. Roll Call
Present: Commissioners Thomas Edmonds, Mike George, and Ron Eaves.
2. Public Statements:
None.
3. Approval of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 12, 2021 of the Bakersfield Fire
Department Civil Service Board.
Upon a motion by Commissioner Ron Eaves, seconded by Mike George,to approve the
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 12, 2021 of the Fire Department Civil Service
Board was APPROVED, ALL AYES.
4. New Business
A. Certification of Hazardous Materials Specialist (Promotional) #01487 Eligibility List
Tracy Sunkes, Human Resources Analyst, presented the Certification of Hazardous
Materials Specialist (Promotional) #01487 Eligibility List to the board.
Upon a motion by Commissioner Mike George, seconded by Ron Eaves to approve the
Certification of Hazardous Materials Specialist(Promotional) #01487 Eligibility List, was
APPROVED, ALL AYES.
There was one candidate on the Eligibility List: Malcolm Moore, Fire Prev/Env Officer.
5. Commissioner Statements
Commissioner Edmonds thanked Human Resources and the fire department for their
effort in successfully filling the Hazardous Materials Specialist position.
Commissioner Eaves asked what the position entailed. Shane Gardner, Director of Fire
Prevention detailed the job duties for the board.
6. Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Edmonds
adjourned the meeting at 3:04 p.m.
