A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD CONCERNING THE KERN COUNTY WORLD
WAR II VETERANS MEMORIAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
WHEREAS, the Kern County World War II Veterans Memorial, a 501)c)(3)
nonprofit organization ("Organization") has approached the City of Bakersfield
("City") expressing desire to build a memorial honoring Kern County's World War
II Veterans and those whose services were instrumental in supporting World War II
efforts; and
WHEREAS, Organization will fully fund all costs associated with said memorial
including its design and construction and agrees to comply with all applicable
federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and guidelines
applicable to the construction of such a memorial; and
WHEREAS, City and Organization have mutually agreed that the memorial
will ultimately be located somewhere within the confines of Jastro Park, located
at 2900 Truxtun Avenue; and
WHEREAS, upon the memorial's installation, Organization will dedicate the
memorial to City and City will maintain the memorial thereafter; and
WHEREAS, City is committed to working with Organization in terms of
approving the design and exact location of the memorial; and
WHEREAS, City and Organization have already mutually agreed on the
conceptual design of the memorial.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. That all of the above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein.
2. That City shall cooperate with Organization to facilitate the terms of this
Resolution.
3. That City shall not unreasonably withhold approval of the ultimate design
of memorial and shall determine an acceptable place within Jastro Park
for the installation of said memorial once said memorial is ready for
installation.

4. That City staff shall facilitate the completion of all relevant documents
which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned
memorial project.
HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted
by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
SEP 0 12021 by the following vote:
