A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT UTILITY
VEHICLES FOR USE IN THE TRAFFIC SECTION OF THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED
THROUGH USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING
THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING
THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED $50,510 ($25,255 each, tax included)
WHEREAS, the City is in need of replacing two utility vehicles for use in the
Traffic Section of the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, there is no comparable vehicle to the Go-4 three-wheeled utility
vehicle currently in use; and
WHEREAS, the Go-4 brand is only manufactured by Westward Industries, LTD.,
and Municipal Maintenance Equipment is the only dealer in the state of California and
the Reno area of Nevada;and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined, and has recommended that
this Council find, that Go-4 three-wheel utility vehicles can only be obtained from one
vendor (Municipal Maintenance Equipment) and has recommended that this Council
authorize dispensing with bidding therefore in accordance with subsection D.2. of
Secbon 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
