RESOLUTION ADOPTING CREDIT CARD CONVENIEPICE FEES
WHEREAS, state law required new fees and charges and increases in existing fees and
charges be adopted by ordinance or resolution following a public hearing on said fees and
charges; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code section 6159(h), the City mcoy impose
charges for the transactional costs associated with Credit Cord Payments (Convenience
Fees"); and
WHEREAS, the City continues to incur merchant fees related to Credit Card Payments
that have increased significantly; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Convenience Fee is designed to pass the merchant fee that
the City incurs to the payor; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 3.70 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code authorizes the establishment
and increase of fees under the cost recovery system; and
WHEREAS. the Clerk of the City Council set Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 5:15
p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Holl, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, Cc3lifornia, as the
time cond place for a public hearing before the City Council to consider the new fees; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council was advertised twice in the
Bakersfield Cc3lifornion, a newspaper of general circulation, cond held on November 1 7, 2021 :

WHEREAS, the fees and charges set forth in this resolution do not exceed the
reasonable estimated cost of providing the services for which the fees are charged.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield os follows:
1 . The above recitals, incorporated herein, are true and correct.
2. The Council adopts a Credit Cord Convenience Fee of 2.513G of each transaction
amount paid with a credit/debit card and shall become effective on December
1, 2021.
