After filling the pipe, the Contractor shall plug each end of the pipe in the within the manholes with concrete (not less than 505 pounds of cementitious material per cubic yard) and shall shape the concrete to conform to the manhole wall. The concrete plug shall be a minimum of one (1) foot in thickness. When CLSM is proposed for use, the Contractor shall submit a mix design and test data to the Engineer for approval prior to abandoning the storm drain pipe for which controlled low strength material is proposed for use. The test data and mix design shall provide for the following: A. A 28-day compressive strength between 50 pounds per square inch and 100 pounds per square inch. Compressive strength shall be determined in conformance with the requirements in ASTM Designation: D 4832. B. Cement shall be any type of portland cement conforming to the requirements in ASTM Designation: C 150; or any type of blended hydraulic cement conforming to the requirements in ASTM Designation: C 595 or the physical requirements in ASTM Designation: C 1157.
