Regular Meeting - 4:00 P.M.
1. ROLL CALL
Present: Chair Bell, Commissioners Resolme, Toler, Beardsley, Kakarla
Alternate Members: Commissioners Taft, Vargas
Members Absent: Commissioners Burrow, Mizar, Morgan
2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS
None
3. SUMMARY REPORT
a. Adoption of the November 29, 2021 Youth Commission minutes.
Motion by Commissioner Resolme; second by Commissioner Kakarla to
approve. Motion approved.
4. NEW BUSINESS
a. Continue discussions and planning for the Youth Commission project FY 2021-
2022.
Commissioners discussed whether utilizing a survey to gauge youth interest in
various topics should be utilized, and the need to develop questions and
determine method of promoting if a survey is used.
Commissioners also continued discussion of three main topics for
consideration centered around planned outdoor event, activity, and/or
fundraiser:
• Social Media/Internet Do's and Don'ts/Technology
• Supporting Homeless and Foster Youth
• Academics (Engagement and Support)
Commissioners expressed interest in working together in small groups to
further develop ideas. Staff encouraged Commissioners to discuss ideas with
their alternates due to similarities unique to each Ward, and to reach out to
their appointing Council members for feedback and advice. Staff provided
guidance to ensure small group discussion does not violate the Brown Act.
