ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners Dewey, Young, Miranda, Hernandez, Banuelos, Alternate Commissioners Baldovinos, Schwieger, Yum, Dison, Merino Absent: Commissioners, Evans, Garza, Alternate Commissioner Salinas 2. PUBLIC STATEMENTS None. 3. SUMMARY REPORT a. Adoption of the January 6, 2020 Youth Commission Minutes Motion by Commissioner Young to Approve. Seconded by Commissioner Dewey. Motion Passed. 4. NEW BUSINESS a. Presentation by Carina Ortiz, Bakersfield Police Department Community Relations Supervisor and Officer Ryan Skidmore on local concerns involving youth Officer Ryan Skidmore provided staff comments regarding issues concerning youth such as vaping, social media, cyber bullying, and gangs. Commissioner Banuelos requested staff reach out to Kelsey Brackett, Community Relations Specialist Bakersfield Police Department to learn more about social media strategies. No Action Taken b. Presentation by Jessica Felix, Solid Waste Division and Keep Bakersfield Beautiful on upcoming litter cleanup projects and potential partnership opportunities with the Bakersfield Youth Commission. Jessica Felix, Solid Waste Division and Keep Bakersfield Beautiful provided PowerPoint presentation and staff comments. No Action Taken 5. STAFF COMMENTS Christina Oleson, Deputy City Attorney, reminded commission that a special meeting can be scheduled if needed. Brianna Carrier reminded the Commission that a project plan is needed to coordinate availability of staff. 6. COMMISSION COMMENTS Commissioner Hernandez made comments regarding the Great American clean up being a group effort. 7. ADJOURNMENT 5:02 pm
