RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO CLOSE
CERTAIN PORTIONS OF POPLAR STREET
IN UTEE CITY OF BAKEE?SFIELD, CAL-
IFORNIA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFI�LD,
as follows:
That it is the intention of the Council of the City of
Bakersfield to order the closing of the following described portions
of Poplar Street, and that the lands included within the boundaries
of such portions, as described, be abandoned:
SECTION 1.
Poplar Street between the northerly line of 18th Street and
the southerly line of 19th Street, being a parcel of land 82.5 feet
in width, lying easterly of, adjacent to, and contiguous with the
easterly line of Block 434 and extending from the northerly line of
18th Street to the southerly line of 19th Street; said Block 434 is
shown on "Map of the City of Bakersfield, Kern County, California",
filed in the office of the County Recorder of Kern County, November
25th, 1898.
SECTION 2.
Poplar Street between.the northerly line of 16th Street and
the southerly line of Truxtun Avenue; being a parcel of land 82.5 feet
in width lying easterly of, adjacent to, and contiguous with the
easterly line of Block 417B and extending from the northerly line of
16th Street to the southerly line of Truxtun Avenue; said Block 417B
is shown on "Map of the City of Bakersfield, Kern County, California",
filed in the office of the County Recorder of Kern County, November
25th, 1898.
SECTION 3.
Poplar Street between the northerly line of 15th Street and
the southerly line of 16th Street; being a parcel of land 82.5 feet in
width lying easterly of, adjacent to and contiguous with the easterly
line of Block 417C, and extending from the northerly line of 15th
Street to the southerly line of 16th Street; said Block 417C is shorn
on "Map of the City* of Bakersfield, Kern Counts=, California", filed
in the of -ice of the County Recorder of Kern Count7T, November 25th,
1898.
All of the herein proposed work and improvement shall be
done in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of
California, entitled "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LAYING OUT, OPEAIING,

A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE CLOSING OF
CERTAIN PORTIONS OF POPLAR STREET IN
THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield, did on
the 6th dap of August, 1928, pass its Resolution of Intention No.
581, declaring its intention to order the following work to be
done and improvement to be made in said City, to -wit:
That the following described por-
tions of Poplar Street be closed and
the lands included within the boun-
daries of such portions as described,
be abandoned.
Section 1.
Poplar Street between the northerly
line of 13th Street and the southerly
line of 19th Street, being a parcel of

For further particulars reference is
hereby made to Resolution of Inten-
tion No. 581 on file in the office of
the City Clerk of the City of Bakers-
"IHEREAS, the Council hereby finds and determines that
no assessment is necessary, the owners of the property within
said district having paid to the Superintendent of Streets the
necessary money to cover all damages, costs and expenses incurred
in the closing of said portions of Poplar Street; and
1"JHEREAS, the Street Superintendent of the City of
Bakersfield did thereupon cause notices of the passage of said
Resolution to be posted along said work and published for ten
(10) days in the manner and form as required by law; and
WHEREAS, all objections filed against said work and
improvement have been overruled and denied by said Council, and
more than ten days have elapsed after the expiration of the time
of the publication of said notice of the passage of said Resolu-
tion, and the Council of the City of Bakersfield has acquired
jurisdiction to order said work as proposed in said Resolution
of Intention to be done;
NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, that said work and
improvement be done as aforesaid and as specifically described in
said Resolution of Intention No. 581, said portions of Poplar
Street be and the same are hereby declared closed to the public

says: That he is now, and was during all the times herein mentioned, a citizen of the
United States over the age of eighteen years;
That after the adoption of Resolution of Intention No.sr-5-7-V___ of the Council of
the City of Bakersfield, California, pursuant to orders and instructions of the street su-
perintendent of said City, he personally posted conspicuously along the line of said con-
templated work and improvement and upon all the streets, alleys, and other public thor-
oughfares within the district described in said Resolution of Intention and proposed to
be assessed, notices of the passage of said Resolution headed "Notice of Improvement,"
a copy of said notice being annexed hereto and made a part hereof;
That he personally posted said notices by fastening them with metal tacks to stakes,
poles, fences, walls or trees, at such an elevation above the ground that they would
attract attention and be easily readable;
That all of said notices were posted less than 300 feet in distance apart, and that
