Non-Agenda Item Public Statements Lauren Skidmore with Bakersfield Homeless Center shared that the organization has a new name, Open Door Network. 3) ADOPTION OF THE MAY 24, 2022 AGENDA SUMMARY REPORT The report was adopted as submitted 4) STAFF REPORT a. Update on the City’s efforts to address homelessness. Assistant to the City Manager Anthony Valdez, provided a monthly update on City contracts with Flood Ministries, Mercy House (BLNC), and Bakersfield Homeless Center. 5) NEW BUSINESS a. Discussion of a Regional Homelessness Action Plan conducted by the Bakersfield Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative. - Valdez Assistant to the City Manager Valdez, provided a brief introduction to the committee on the presentation by Dr. Anna Laven, Executive Director of Bakersfield Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative (BKRHC). Executive Director, Dr. Laven presented to the committee on Bakersfield Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative’s goals, purpose, and strategic plan. Councilmember Arias discussed the need for the City to lean in hard on affordable housing and discussed the level of ownership the City should take for a regional problem. Councilmember Gray discussed the budget of the Bakersfield Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative and asked about outcomes. Chair Weir discussed the need to expediate the timeline of the action plan and the need for the City to increase its communication about efforts to address homelessness.
