Holiday closure
The City of Bakers eld's administrative
of ces - including City Hall North (1600
Truxtun Avenue) - will be closed on Friday,
Nov. 11 in observance of the Veterans Day
holiday.
City of ces will reopen at 8 a.m. on
Monday, Nov. 14 as normal.
Trash services are not expected to be impacted by the closure.

Sixth Annual Christmas Tree
Lighting
The Sixth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting
will be on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Centennial
Plaza in front of Mechanics Bank Arena
(1001 Truxtun Avenue), ahead of the
Bakers eld Condors' Annual Teddy Bear
Toss game.
The festivities start at 5 p.m. this year, with
a live nativity on-site, as well as live and
recorded music. Santa and Mrs. Claus are
expected and the lighting will take place
shortly after they arrive.
Pop-up large trash item drop-off events
The City of Bakers eld's Solid Waste Division will hold a pair of pop-
up large item drop-off events from 8 a.m. to noon. on Saturday, Nov.
19.
The events will be held at the parking lot of Mesa Marin Sports
Complex (10315 Highway 178) and at 15050 Stockdale Highway.
These events are part of Bakers eld’s Clean City Initiative and are
funded by the Public Safety & Vital Services (PSVS) Measure, also
known as Measure N.

New Brewery Trail winners!
The new Bakers eld Kern County Brewery
Trail wasn't even a week old when we
already had our rst set of winners!
Guillermo, RJ and Jessy (right) were the
rst to reach 800 points (not pints!) and
come to Visit Bakers eld's of ce to claim
their growlers!

More than 250 vaccines given at monthly low-cost pet
clinic
The City's Animal Control Division held its monthly low-cost pet
vaccination clinic on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Wilson Park, giving 252
total vaccinations to 137 pets.
The next clinic - and last one for 2022 - will be held on Saturday, Dec.
3 at Kroll Park (7501 Kroll Way).

Recreation & Parks Department are inviting residents to complete a
survey to share their vision for the expansion of the Kaiser

This project will develop 98 acres of undeveloped land within the
park and is anticipated to both meet local recreational demands and
to attract and accommodate regional, state, and national athletic
competitions. Input shared at this workshop will help to lay the
groundwork for planning this expansion of the Sports Village. This is
the rst step of an extensive planning process. More background
information is available in the survey.

Traf c calming public workshop
The City of Bakers eld is working to complete a Neighborhood
Traf c Calming project and we want the public's input!
The community is invited to share their thoughts at a Public
Workshop on the project, set for 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in
the Caucus Room at City Hall South (1501 Truxtun Avenue).

Bakers eld NTCP
Veterans' lunch
The Bakers eld Police Department's Command staff and the
Bakers eld Police Of cers Association provided lunch from Salty's
BBQ to all City employees who are veterans on Wednesday, Nov. 9
at BPD Headquarters. The dine-in option was held at HQ's
auditorium, and a pick-up option was available as well!

This summer the City of Bakers eld partnered with San Joaquin
Hospital and Adventist Health for the Blue Zones Project to
transform our community using policy change and the adoption of
healthy habits.
Now, through the Blue Zones Project, residents 18 years old or older
can nd out their "Real Age" by taking the Real Age Test - FREE!

Veterans Day Parade traf c impacts
The Bakers eld Police Department will be conducting road closures
for the 2022 Bakers eld Veteran’s Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 11.
The intended focus of this event is to celebrate the sacri ces made
by men and women who served in the armed forces. Personnel will

be in position at approximately 8 a.m. and
will begin closing their assigned
roadway/intersection at that time. The
parade will begin at 10 a.m.
The parade route is as follows:
Start: 22nd Street and L Street,
southbound to 21st Street
Westbound 21st Street to G Street
Southbound G Street to 20th Street
Eastbound 20th Street to O Street (disbanding)
Freeway closures planned on northbound and
southbound Hwy 99
Nighttime closures have been scheduled for all lanes of northbound
and southbound State Route 99 between Ming Avenue and State
Route 58. These closures will take place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
from Nov. 14 thru 17 for the installation of falsework. Only one
direction will be closed at a time. California Highway Patrol will be
monitoring the construction zone.
During the closures, northbound motorists will be detoured to exit at
Ming Avenue. Travel west on Ming Avenue, north on Wible Road,
west on California Avenue, then re-enter the northbound State
Route 99 on-ramp or enter the southbound on-ramp to get to
eastbound State Route 58. Southbound motorists will be detoured
to exit at Stockdale Highway. Travel east on Stockdale Highway,
south on Wible Road, west on Ming Avenue Avenue, then re-enter
the southbound State Route 99 on-ramp.
Construction schedules may be changed without notice due to
unforeseen circumstances. The Thomas Roads Improvement
Program apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause the
traveling public.
