Holiday Closure
The City of Bakers eld's administrative of ces - including City Hall
North (1600 Truxtun Avenue) - will be closed on Thursday and
Friday (Nov. 24 & 25) in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
City of ces will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28 as normal.
Trash services will be delayed one day as a result of the closure.

The City of Bakers eld’s annual Holiday Grease Collection event
returns for the 2022-23 holiday season, offering a safe disposal
option for cooking oil and grease for City residents.

Disposing of used cooking oil and grease
down residential drains can result in
clogged pipes and other damage, causing
backups. Instead, residents can stop by
either of the City’s Holiday Grease
Collection locations and dispose of used oil
and grease in a safe and environmentally
friendly way.
Residents are asked to collect their used cooking oil and grease in
sealed containers before dropping it off at the locations. There is no
charge to dispose of used cooking oil and grease during the event.
The 2022 Holiday Grease Collection event kicks off Monday, Nov. 28
and ends Friday, Jan. 6, 2023.
Cooking oil and grease drop-off locations:
City of Bakers eld Wastewater Treatment Plant 3 (6901
McCutchen Road)
North of the River Sanitary District main of ce (204 Universe
Avenue)
Residents may drop off their used cooking oil and grease at those
locations from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday.
The event is closed on Dec. 26, 2022 and Jan. 2, 2023.
For more information, residents should contact the Wastewater
Division at 661-326-3249.
Transformative Climate Communities grant community
meeting
The City of Bakers eld's Economic & Community Development
Department will host a community meeting to discuss a community
grant known as Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) on
Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center
(1000 S. Owens Street) from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Community survey: Kaiser Permanente Sports Village
We want to hear from you! The City of Bakers eld and its
Recreation & Parks Department are inviting residents to complete a
survey to share their vision for the expansion of the Kaiser
Permanente Sports Village. Please complete this survey by Nov. 27
to share your preferences and help shape the expansion project:

The survey is also available in Español (Spanish) and ਪੰਜਾਬੀ (Punjabi).
This project will develop 98 acres of undeveloped land within the
park and is anticipated to both meet local recreational demands and
to attract and accommodate regional, state, and national athletic
competitions. Input shared at this workshop will help to lay the
groundwork for planning this expansion of the Sports Village. This is
the rst step of an extensive planning process. More background
information is available in the survey.

Sixth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting
The Sixth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be on Saturday, Nov.
26 at Centennial Plaza in front of Mechanics Bank Arena (1001
Truxtun Avenue), ahead of the Bakers eld Condors' Annual Teddy
Bear Toss game.

The festivities start at 5 p.m. this year, with
a live nativity on-site, as well as live and
recorded music. Santa and Mrs. Claus are
expected and the lighting will take place
shortly after they arrive.

Southbound Hwy 99 to Ming off-ramps re-opening
After much anticipation, we are pleased to announce that the
southbound 99 to Ming Avenue off-ramps will re-open prior to the
Thanksgiving holiday. The off-ramps will be opened in the afternoon
hours of November 23, 2022. Lane closures may still occur
intermittently in the ensuing weeks to resolve punch list items.

unforeseen circumstances. The Thomas Roads Improvement
