Chamber's GRC learns rsthand about Park Rangers
Though still in the early stages of being
fully implemented, the City's Park Rangers
are already making a difference at the
more than 60 parks maintained by the City.
That was the message Friday morning
during the Greater Bakers eld Chamber's
Governmental Review Council meeting,
which highlighted the City's Park Rangers.
Recreation & Parks Assistant Director Darin Budak and Ranger
Supervisor Mike Dobbs (right) were on hand, providing an early
update on the program.
"Since the Rangers came on, it's night and day from what we saw
months ago," said Budak. "The goal from the beginning was to

improve people's experience in parks."
Added Dobbs: "That's the goal, to get people in the parks."
The nearly 20-person Ranger team provides coverage at parks seven
days a week, 20 hours a day. Since the Rangers started patrolling
parks in late November/early December, both Dobbs and Budak say
they've already seen a difference with fewer homeless individuals in
parks and more families with children utilizing facilities.
Anyone needing to report issues with park reservations, issues with
amenities or nuisances can call the Park Ranger Hotline at 661-570-
1000.
Granite Pointe Park and Planz Park improvements
underway!
The Recreation & Parks Department continues its work improving
amenities around the City.
This week construction began on two projects – playground
rehabilitation at Granite Pointe Park in Ward 7 and a basketball
court rehabilitation at Planz Park in Ward 1.
Both projects are made possible thanks to funding from the Public
Safety & Vital Services Measure (Measure N) - $435,000 for Granite
Pointe and $116,000 for Planz Park.
Construction on the projects is expected to last 6-10 weeks.
