Notable items
City's administrative of ces closed for Presidents Day
holiday
The City's administrative of ces, including
City Hall North, will be closed on Monday,
Feb. 20, 2023 in observance of the
Presidents Day holiday.
City of ces will reopen at 8 a.m. on
Tuesday, Feb. 21 as normal.
Trash services will not be impacted by the closure.
New fellows join City departments
This week the City welcomed our latest group of individuals who will
be participating in the City Hall Fellowship Program.
The seven fellows will work in City departments, learning the ins and
outs of public service, government and developing professional skills.
The Fellowship Program is made possible thanks to our partners at
California Volunteers and the Kern Community Foundation.

The 2023 issue of Camp-California: The
Camper’s Guide to California features a
two-page spread promoting Visit
Bakers eld and River Run RV Park (at
right). This cooperative ad highlights
Bakers eld’s Family Fun Pass, Brewery
Trail, and Sel e Trail.
For the past several years, Visit Bakers eld and River Run RV Park
have partnered with Camp-California to promote local activities to
entice RV travelers to stop and stay in Bakers eld. The magazine has
a reach of more than 300,000 and can be found wherever outdoor
travel enthusiasts are, including California Welcome Centers,
chambers of commerce, convention and visitors bureaus, CalOHA
member parks, RV shows, RV dealerships & service shops, RV rental
agencies, Camping World stores, Bass Pro Shop stores, and online at
Camp-California.com.
The 2023 issue of Camp-California: The Camper’s Guide to
California is available free at Visit Bakers eld, 515 Truxtun Avenue.
Rec. & Parks, BCSD continue after-school program
partnership
The City of Bakers eld's Recreation & Parks Department is
continuing a partnership with the Bakers eld City School District to
provide after-school activities for students from socioeconomically
disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Rec. & Parks began the program in October, 2022. It began with ag
football and has now extended to boys and girls basketball and will
run through March.
Students from Bessie Owens, Fremont, Jefferson, Longfellow,
McKinley and Pauly elementary schools are participating in the
program.

The City of Bakers eld is working with the Ventura County
Community Development Corporation to host free homebuyer
workshops to help local residents learn what it takes to buy your
own home, as well as learn about assistance programs available
through the City.
There will be English and Spanish workshops from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on
Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Community House (2020 R Street).
Recruiting open to ll KBB Committee vacancy
The Bakers eld City Council is currently recruiting for an individual
to complete an unexpired term on the Keep Bakers eld Beautiful
Committee (KBBC) due to a resignation. The Ward 1 term will expire
in December 2026.

The KBBC recommends programs and
activities to improve the ecological and
aesthetic value of Bakers eld through the
proper handling of solid waste, litter
control and prevention, beauti cation,
education, and the recruitment of
volunteers who will make a positive
difference in our community.
Applications are available at the City Clerk’s Of ce at City Hall
North (1600 Truxtun Avenue) and on the City’s website. They should
be returned to the City Clerk’s Of ce by 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24,
2023.
Anyone interested in serving on the KBBC is encouraged to contact
each City Councilmember regarding their interest and quali cations.

Reverse traf c control on Real Road
Real Road will be agged for one-way directional traf c between
Stockdale Highway and Elcia Drive from Feb. 21-24, 2023 as
construction crews remove falsework.
A single lane will remain open with aggers directing traf c.
The closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and may include a
maximum 5-minute full closure for the safe removal of steel beams.
Freeway closure for Northbound 99 to Eastbound 58
connector
Nighttime closures have been scheduled for the Northbound
Highway 99 to Eastbound Highway 58 connector from Feb. 21-24,
2023 for falsework grading.
The closures will begin at 10 p.m. and end at 5 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol will be monitoring the construction
zone.
During the closures, northbound to eastbound motorists will be
detoured to exit Hwy. 99 at California Avenue, travel west on
California Avenue, enter the Southbound 99 on-ramp and enter the
Eastbound 58 connector ramp.
Westbound Hwy. 58 closures

Nighttime closures are scheduled for Westbound Highway 58 at
Chester Avenue from Feb. 21-24 for overhead sign installations.
The closures will begin at 10 p.m. and end at 5 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol will be monitoring the construction
zone.
During the closures, westbound to northbound 99 drivers will be
detoured to exit at Chester Avenue, turn right/north on Chester, turn
left/west on Brundage Lane, turn right/north on Oak Street, turn
left/west on California Avenue, then turn right to enter the
Northbound 99 on-ramp.
Westbound to southbound 99 drivers will be detoured to exit at
Chester, turn right/north on Chester, turn left/west on Brundage
Lane, turn left/south on Wible Road, turn right/west on Ming
Avenue, then turn left to enter the Southbound 99 on-ramp.
