Oilers, have spent their entire 25-year
history in Bakers eld, playing home games at Mechanics Bank Arena
(previously Rabobank Arena) that entire span.
"The Condors are the backbone of this community," Condors
president Matthew Riley said on Thursday, "and we can't thank the
corporate and fan support enough for making this an attractive
location to call home."
Riley was joined by Condors General Manager Keith Gretzky, who
also serves as the Edmonton Oilers' assistant general manager.
"This [agreement] is a win-win not only for the City, but also a win-
win for the organization," Gretzky said. "Some of the [previous
Condors] players have taken to Bakers eld and bought homes here
and moved their families here. ... It's not just coming to play here for
six months and that's it. They take this as their city."
Kevin Truelson - a former Condor himself, now assistant to the City
Manager - personi es that mentality.
"This truly is a great place to live and work," Truelson said. "It's also a
special place to play hockey. It's a special place because of the fans."
The new ve-year agreement expires in 2028 and includes a three-
year option at the end.
