HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 036-2023RESOLUTION NO. 0 3 6- 2 0 2 3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE BOARD OF STATE AND COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS (BSCC) OFFICER WELLNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH GRANT PROGRAM, IN THE AMOUNT OF $305,405.96. WHEREAS, BSCC funding is being made in accordance with Assembly Bill 178, Chapter 45, Statues of 2022, item 5227-121-0001, This funding is available to all city and county law enforcement agencies employing officers described in Section 830.1 of the Penal Code; and WHEREAS, BSCC Wellness and Mental Health Grant Program provides funds to units of local government for the purpose of improving officerwellness and expanding mental health sources; and WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield Police Department has been awarded $305,405.96 from the 2022, BSCC Wellness and Mental Health Grant Program, for the purpose of implementing the following: • Establishing officerwellness units or expanding existing officerwellness units. • Establishing peer support units or expanding peer support units. • Services provided by a licensed mental health professional, counselor, or other professional that works with law enforcement. • Expanding multiagency mutual aid programs focused on officer wellness and mental health. • Other programs or services that are evidence based or have a successful track record of enhancing officer wellness. WHEREAS, the City Council of Bakersfield accepts and approves the grant terms, as described in Exhibit "A" attached herein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The Council of the City of Bakersfield authorizes the City Manager, or his/her designee, to apply for and accept the 2022 BSCC Wellness and Mental Health Grant Program. 3.
