Friday, March 31, 2023 Notable Items BLNC set to ofcially open new men's dorms The City's Brundage Lane Navigation Center will now be able to help more individuals experiencing homelessness thanks to the ofcial opening of the newly constructed men's dormitories. The Bakerseld City Council approved the expansion of the BLNC in December 2021, utilizing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Public Safety & Vital Services Measure (PSVS) funds. The expansion will allow the BLNC to increase its current 150-bed count by 118 beds to 268. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the project on Feb. 8, 2023. This week City staff got a rsthand look of the two men's dorms, consisting of 109 beds. They are expected to open to clients on Monday, April 3. Wakayama and Bakerseld have been Sister Cities for more than 60 years, dating back to 1961.
