3. ADOPTION OF THE NOVEMBER 22, 2022, AGENDA SUMMARY REPORT
Motion by Counclimember Arias to adopt the November 22, 2022 Agenda Summary Report.
Motion passed with Councllmember Weir absent.
4. STAFF REPORT
a. Staff update on the City's efforts to address homelessness
Assistant to the City Manager Valdez, announced that the committee is now the
Housing and Homelessness Committee and a standing committee as well. He
introduced Jenny Byers, ECD's Assistant Director, who manages housing development
and Crystal Rubio, Assistant to the City Manager, who is responsible for homelessness
coordination; they are the Housing and Homelessness team for the City of Bakersfield.
Assistant to the City Manager Valdez gave a PowerPoint on the City's efforts to address
homelessness, which included a review of the items that were covered at last years
meetings and the committee's key accomplishments.
5. NEW BUSINESS
a. Discussion Regarding an Overview of the Committee's Work in 2022
After presentation by Homeless Services Principal Carter.
b. Discussion and Recommendation Regarding a Family Reunification Initiative
Assistant to the City Manager Valdez gave a presentation on the proposed Family
Reunification Project
C. Discussion and Recommendation Regarding a Homeless Prevention Program
Homeless Services Principal Carter gave a presentation on the Proposed Homeless
Prevention Program.
d. Approval of the 2023 Committee Calendar
Motion by Councllmember Weir to approve the 2023 Housing and Homelessness
Committee Calendar. Motion passed unanimously.
