AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15.24 OF THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE
UNIFORM ABATEMENT OF BANGEROUS BUILBINGS
CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Chapter 15.24 of the Bakersfield Hunicipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:

Section 802(a) amended - Repair and Demolltlon Fund.
Section 901 amended - Account of expense.
15.24.010 Adoption.
Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, that
certain code entitled Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous
Buildings, 1991 Edition, sponsored and copyrighted by the
International Conference of Building Officials, a copy of which
is on file with the Building Department of the City of Bakersfield
for use and examination by the public, is adopted by reference and
enacted as the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous
Buildings of the City, for the purpose stated therein and with the
exceptions and subject to the amendments and deletions of the pro-
visions thereof provided in this chapter.
15.24,020 Deletions.
The following section of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of
Dangerous Buildings, 1991 Edition, is not adopted as part of this
chapter and is deleted.
Section 205(a), Board of Appeals, General.
15.24.030 Modifications.
The section of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of
Dangerous Buildings, 1991 Edition, mentioned in Section 15.24.040
through 15.24.070 of this chapter, as adopted by reference, are
amended as provided in Sections 15.24.040 through 15.24.070 of
±his chapter.
15.24.040 Section 201(a) amended - Enforcement.
Section 201(a) is amended by the addition of a third paragraph to subsection
~a) to read as follows:
The enforcement of the Uniform Code for the Abatement
of Dangerous Buildings by the Building Official shall
not prevent the enforcement of the State Housing Law
and applicable regulations by the County Health Officer.
15.24.050
Section 801
Section 801(a) amended - Procedure for work by private
contract.
(a) is amended to read as follows:
(a) Procedure. When any work or demolition is to be
done pursuant to Section 701(c) 3 of this Code, the
Building Official, who shall, for the purposes of
Chapter 8 and 9, be known as the Oirector, shall cause
the work to be acc~blished by private contract under
his direction. Plans and specifications therefor may
be prepared by said Director, or he may emDIoy such
architectural and engineering assistance on a contract
basis as he may deem reasonably necessary. Standard
City contractual procedures shall be followed.

15.24.060 Sectlon 802(a) amended - Repair and Demolition Fund.
Section 802(a) is amended to read as follows:
(a) General. The City Council shall establish a
special fund to be designated as the Repair and
Demolition Fund. Payments shall be made out of said
fund upon the demand of the Director to defray the
costs and expenses which may be incurred by the City
in causing to be done the necessary work of repair or
demolition of dangerous buildings.
15.24.070 Section 901 amended - Account of expense.
Section 901 is amended to read as follows:
Section 901 Account of Expense; Filing of Report
Contents. The Building Official shall keep an itemized account of
the expense incurred by the City in the repair or demolition of
any building done pursuant to the provisions of Section 701(c)3 of
this Code. Upon completion of the work of repair or demolition,
said Director shall prepare and file with the City Clerk a report
specifying the work done, the itemized and total cost of the work,
a description of the real property upon which the building or
structure is or was located, and the names and addresses of the
persons entitled to notice pursuant to subsection (c) of Section
401.
SECTION 2.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
Bakersfield Municipal Code and shall become effective thirty (30)
days from and after the date of its passage.
