POLICY: PROCEDURE FOR SELECTING A MAYOR PRO TEM
STATEMENT: Establishes the person responsible for Mayoral duties in the
absence of the Mayor and Vice Mayor.

POLICY RESOLUTION NO. 5
A gggOLUTION ADOPTING COUNCIL POLICY
REGARDING A MAYOR PRO TEN.
WMRVM, past practice of the City Council has been to
appoint the past Vice-Mayor to act in place of the Mayor and Vice-
Mayor when both are absent; and
PiMpZm, the Council now desires to adopt this practice
as an official Council policy;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
in the absence of both the Mayor and the Vice-
Mayor, the councilmember who most recently served as
Vice-Mayor shall be the Mayor Pro Tem, and shall.serve in
the place of the Mayor and vice-Mayor.
