AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUBSECTIO~ E OF
SECTION 2.04.120, SECTION 2.04.130;
ADDING SUBSECTION C TO SECTION
2.04.080; AND REPEALING SUBSECTION F
OF SECTION 2.04. 120 AND SECTION
2.04.160 OF THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO MIB-u'£~-S OF '£~
COUNCIL MEETINGS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Subsection E of Section 2.04.120 of the Bakersfield
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
2.04.120 Rules of debate.
E. Remarks of Mayor. The mayor may express his views
on any subject for consideration by the council and may file his
written recommendations with the clerk.
SECTION 2.
Section 2.04.130 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
2.04.130 Members may file Drotests against council action.
Any member may state the reason for his dissent from or
protest against any action of the council.
SECTION 3.
Subsection C is hereby added to the Bakersfield
Municipal Code to read as follows:
2.04.080 Consent calendar.
C. The minutes of the previous council meeting, which
shall be action-style minutes, may be approved as part of the
consent calendar. Meetings shall also be recorded on audio tape,
which shall be preserved by the city clerk in perpetuity.
SECTION 4.
Subsection F of Section 2.04.120 and Section 2.04.160 of
the Bakersfield Municipal Code relating to items to be entered on
the minutes are hereby repealed.

SECTION 5.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
Bakersfield Municipal Code and shall become effective thirty (30)
days from and after the date of its passage.
