Written Explanation of Work to be performed:
This project consists of installing a new concrete walkway to the entry of the new business and installing new accessible ramps to
satisfy Building Department Compliance, C.B.C. Requirements, A.D.A. Requirements, and local statutes. The concrete walkway shall
start at the north-east end of the property of 181h &'N' Street and run west on 17th Place Street to the main entrance of the new
establishment / business. This business will have the main entrance to their establishment on the 'alley -side' with a secondary
entrance / egress from the space to one of the new A.D.A. ramps to the East. The accessible ramps have been deemed to be
necessarily constructed due to the nature of how downtown buildings were originally constructed in an elevated manner. The
finish Floor within the building is significantly higher than the top of the existing City owned and maintained concrete sidewalk.
The building sits directly on its parcel line, and it is unreasonable to construct an accessible entrance within the building envelope.
In short, this request is to facilitate people with accessibility issues to gain access to the businesses within this building.
This request for encroachment is not due to building damage.
