Home My WebLink AboutRES NO 170-2021(1)RESOLUTION NO. 170-2021(1) AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO RESOLUTION NO. 170-2021 DETERMINING THAT URGENT REPAIRS TO SOLID WASTE FRONT LOADER CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING, FOR A REVISED NOT TO EXCEED $85,000. WHEREAS, on September 1, 2021, Council adopted Resolution No. 170-2021 determining that urgent repairs to a Solid Waste Division front loading refuse truck, equipment number 3682, could only reasonably be obtained from Golden State Peterbilt, the local factory authorized dealer; and WHEREAS, the initial repair estimate was $57,000 based on the initial inspection of the front loader, which determined the unit needed major repairs; and WHEREAS, during the course of the repair, technicians found further damage to the unit's frame requiring additional repairs in order to bring the unit to proper working condition; and WHEREAS, the parts and repairs have been delayed due to supply chain issues and shipping delays, but remain necessary to bring the equipment into proper working order as the unit is integral to providing vital waste collection services to the City; and WHEREAS, a revised work order estimate was submitted by Golden State Peterbilt, detailing the parts and labor needed to bring the equipment back into proper working order, attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, the Public Works Director recommends the Council amend Resolution No. 170-2021 to reflect the revised not to exceed amount of $85,000 to complete the repairs, in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and it shall become effective immediately upon its approval.
