Though we are not expecting severe
adverse weather locally as a result of the
hurricane, City staff is monitoring its status
and preparing. Currently, there is no
indication from the State or County
Emergency Services suggesting an
emergency response for Kern County.
Some tips from the California Of ce of
Emergency Services (Cal OES) before an emergency strikes:
Sign up to receive emergency alerts
Make a family emergency plan
Check on loved ones and neighbors

Disaster Ready Guides
Portable generators reminder
If you use a portable generator in case of a
power outage, remember to create a plan
before you turn it on.
The Portable Generator Manufacturers'
Association (PGMA) reminds everyone
that the only safe place to use a portable
generator is outside and far from any
occupied building. That means planning for the distance you need,
including having the right amount of extension cords needed to bring
power to the building.
PGMA Safety Resources
Cal OES is taking early, uni ed and orderly action to
prepare for Hurricane Hilary.
